Setting Up and Using the VIVA
Get started with your VIVA with simple to follow steps.
The VIVA is a plug-and-play device that seamlessly captures an SDI signal and streams it to your CASTUS IP input via the CASTUS STREAM Key service. The device comes pre-configured with your unique stream key, and includes documentation to guide you in setting it up on your CASTUS server.
WARNING: DO NOT PRESS AND HOLD THE ACTION BUTTON. THIS WILL RESET YOUR VIVA TO FACTORY SETTINGS.
SET UP ON CASTUS
Set Up RTMP Input
- Log on to your CASTUS and head to CASTUS > Services > Inputs.
- Select New Input from the top right and choose New Video Input.
- Name your input and choose, submit.
- Select Settings for the new input you just created.
- For the Interface setting, choose RTMP.
- Copy the QuickRoll Decoder Key from the provided paperwork or from the sticker on the unit itself and paste into the URL setting. If you have misplaced this information, please contact support at support@castus.tv.
- Select Apply to save your changes.
- To view/record/go live with the VIVA feed, select Controls.
Schedule a Live Event
- Open up the schedule for your channel.
- In the Library Widget on the right, navigate to tv > inputs. Click on the input for your VIVA and stick into your schedule at the desired time.
- Enter a duration from the popup and choose Submit.
- Save your schedule.
Go Live Manually
- Navigate to CASTUS > Services > Inputs.
- Select Controls for the input for your VIVA.
- To go live manually, select the Play button to the right of the channel name and confirm you want to go live.
- To end live manually, select the Stop button to the right of the channel name and confirm you want to end live.
SETTING UP YOUR VIVA
- Plug in the power cord to the back of the unit and turn on the unit via the button on the front. The red power light on the front indicates it is starting up, and a blue light indicates it is ready for use.
- Plug in the ethernet cable to the back of the unit. You MUST use a wired ethernet connection for this device. Please talk with your local IT department if you have trouble connecting to an ethernet signal on location. We encourage thorough on-site testing before any live event.
- Plug in the SDI video & audio feed to the back of the unit and ensure you have live video sending to the device.
- When you are ready to stream to your CASTUS, select the ACTION button on the front of the unit. The Status LED light for 1 will turn blue when actively streaming.
- To stop your stream, press the ACTION button again. The blue light should turn off and your stream will end.
NOTE: It may take as long as 5 minutes for the device to be ready to stream, please plan accordingly.
